The Church of the Two-Headed Basilisks is the orthodox and state religion of Galgenbeck. The arch-priestess Josilfa Migol rules the city and the Inquisition acts as the military arm of the Church, hunting heretics and dissidents. The Church orthodoxy centers on the apocalyptic prophecies of Verhu which the clergy believe must be fulfilled.
